Processual Management Using Intelligent Workflow Systems

چکیده

During the late 1990s it has become generally accepted in business that process (as opposed to functional) management is an essential element of world-class management. In an increasingly competitive environment, the role of the human manager has been challenged by sophisticated case handling and management systems, variously known as workflow automation, workflow systems and workflow management systems. To date, most of these systems have been implemented to reduce routine clerical and administrative work. They have been seen as a means of automating manual systems and to assist the implementation of Business Process Reengineering. This paper discusses current research into the use of software agents to enhance workflow systems; to provide additional functionality and flexibility; and to address human factors such as individual abilities and preferences.

Technologies for Intelligent Workflows: Experiences and Lessons

This paper presents research at BT Labs in intelligent workflow management technologies. We summarise the results of past research, and then describe recent work where we applied range of AI technologies to workflow management systems. In particular, we discuss how we are currently using • Machine learning (specifically support vector machines and time series analysis) • Qualitative multi-crite...

A Meta Level Architecture for Workflow Management

Current workflow management systems still lack some important features, esp. intelligent failure handling mechanisms. This is due to the static and only implicitly defined meta model of these systems. We argue that intelligent failure handling needs semantically enriched workflow models. We, therefore, propose a meta level architecture for WFMSs providing an explicit and dynamic meta model. Thi...

Object - Oriented Workflow Management : Intelligence , flexibility , and real support for business processes

This paper describes our experiences from combining workflow management with object technology and expert systems technology. This approach constitutes a powerful integration of business processes, business objects and knowledge bases applicable to a wide range of problem domains. Our experiences with applying this combination in several real world systems show that it can add a new level of su...

Workflow Management and Databases

Workflow management systems are among the most interesting concepts for supporting modern organizations with a focus on processes rather than on structure. Workflow management systems offer different degrees of automation of business processes. We classify workflow management systems according to the features they provide and the types of processes they support. Database systems facilitate the ...
